Originally established in 1967 by Arby Alper on 912 acres of land that he bought from the city of Henderson, it was opened in 1970 as Sky Harbor Airport. In 1996, Clark County purchased the airport and renamed it Henderson Executive Airport. It acts as a relief airport today, and this serves to decongest traffic in major airports. Whereas the majority of the U.S. airports share the same three-letter code in the FAA and IATA systems, Henderson Executive Airport has different codes: HND in FAA, HSH in IATA, and KHND in ICAODistance Between Henderson Executive Airport (HND) and Key Cities?
